ASM Iftekhar Anam

I started working at CVPIA lab since Fall 2009. I am pursuing my PhD in Computer Engineering at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at University of Memphis. My research interest includes the following areas with the focus on developing applications for the visually impaired people and people with multiple impairments:

  • Computer and Mobile Vision,
  • Machine Learning,
  • Human-Computer Interaction

Currently, I am working on the following projects:

  • Developing interaction techniques for smart phone applications for the visually impaired individuals that will enable access to printed texts, scene texts and signs. The following diagram shows how the application works.
  • Smart phone application that will provide situational awareness to the visually impaired.
  • Gesture representation and recognition using only one example.  [as part of a Kaggle Research Challenge named  “Chalearn Gesture Challenge 2“, which is now over.]

I received my B.Sc. in Computer Science and Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology at 2007.
